Stay
back
In Italy, stay-back options are exclusively available to those who have completed a PhD or a level 2 Master’s Program. Referred to as "Permesso di Soggiorno," or Residence Permit, the stay-back period is typically permitted for 6 to 12 months, depending on the course and university.
If
a student fails to secure employment during this period, they must return to
their home country. Therefore, international students can only stay back in
Italy after completing their Masters or PhD programs.
